Only one Baton Rouge radio station, Talk 107.3 FM WBRP went wire-to-wire will coverage of the tornados and the storm that impacted Louisiana on Tuesday, February 23rd.
Starting at 6am, Bill Profita and Kevin Gallagher prepared listeners for the bad weather that scheduled to hit our area during AM Baton Rouge with four hours of expert guests. The Clarence Buggs went an extra hour, from 10a-2p, and kept listeners informed of exactly where the tornado was tracking as the bad weather hit with eyewitness reports and real time reports from WAFB TV’s Weather Team. The Crew from AM Baton Rouge returned from 2p-4p to pull a double shift to keep the live coverage rolling as we pre-empted “The Dave Ramsey Show” in order to stay “Live and Local”. Finally, The Jim Engster Show covered the reaction from the storm while weather and information blocks were added to the commercial breaks.
Many thanks to all of the wonderful guests who made yesterday’s coverage possible: Chief Meteorologist Jay Grymes from WAFB, Spokesperson Caycee Kershivik with Entergy, Spokesperson David Latona with Demco, TFC Bryan Lee from Louisiana State Police, Meteorologist Steve Caparotta from WAFB, Meteorologist Quentin Dannin from NWS Storm Prediction Center, Mark Harold of the Livingston Parish OEP, Rodney Mallet from the GOSHEP, Sheriff Jeff Wiley from Ascension Parish, a motorist in White Castle who saw the first touchdown, and Rick Weber with Ascension Parish OEP.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones yesterday and those whose suffered losses to their property. Talk 107.3 FM WBRP is part of the Guaranty Media family of radio stations. Guaranty Media is Baton Rouge’s only locally owned radio cluster and is committed to servicing our community. Thank you for listening to Talk 107.3 FM.
